any property. Despite its durability, stone is subject to the
wear and tear that

with stone, renewal is a crucial step in keeping the value of your investment.
Many processes that claim to return the natural beauty of stone
actually hurt more than they help. A currently popular process is vitrification.
Using acid, the top layer of stone is literally melted to create a shine. Unfortunately,
the acid continues to work its way in to the stone, eventually dulling the finish, and
requiring reapplication about every six months.
Another method is to simply paint the surface with acrylic. This is
another short-term solution that looks good for a while, but can eventually harm the very
surface it's intended to protect.
